Mr. Sabol,
Below is my detailed message to Omega Corporate.
As stated, I used to be quite happy with the service I got, but this all changed
about 2 or 3 years ago, especially this last year. Last summer, I sent
my Constellation for a battery, waterproof check, restoration of some of the
numbers in the bezel, and a general buffing. When it came back, the paint
on the bezel was uneven and sloppy, and there were tool marks (like pliers teeth)
on the case and bracelet. I was, to say the least, dumbfounded!
It was rectified, but how could this have happened? How could it have been sent
back to me in this condition? It takes quite a long time for a watch to
be serviced there, so it's hard to believe that a better job can't be consistently
done. I know mistakes happen, but these two events are so outrageous that
I won't be using SGCS until I have been convinced that the problems at that
facility have been solved.
I collect and trade watches, and currently
have many Omegas - vintage and modern. I am also quite active in watch
interest groups such as Timezone and NAWCC. I come in contact with many
people in the watch community and there is a widespread belief, based on experiences
like mine, that the competence and professionalism in your facility is wanting.
Besides fixing my watch correctly, I feel that
it would be appropriate for you to do more than simply finish the job.
I have been put to some trouble and inconvenience by this, and have been without
this regularly-worn watch for far too long.
Thank you for your attention to this matter,
Sincerely,
A. Charles Beddoe

Dear Maria Mastrodonato,
Thank you for your kind and prompt attention to this. I have been an Omega
owner since 1987 when I bought a Constellation chronometer. Over the years,
I have bought Seamasters and a Speedmaster, as well.
I have had my Constellation serviced several times over the years - batteries, broken
bracelet, water-resistance, etc. However, in the last 3 years, or so, the service
has become sloppy and even incompetent. My Constellation was actually damaged
by SGCS in Lancaster. This latest incident is the last straw. I have
heard many horror stories about this organization from others - all occurring in
the last few years. There is something terribly wrong there, and it makes
Omega look very bad.
I sent my Seamaster Pro mid-size to SGSC, Lancaster for repair,
to clean and regulate, fix the sticky bezel, re-do the red on the seconds hand,
and re-do the super luminova. They called to say that they would replace the dial
and hands.
What I sent:
What I got back:
Is there a problem here, or is it just me? Not only did they
put on a blue dial (very pretty, but not what I wanted), but the bezel is stuck
in the position shown and the hands hardly glow.
They had it for nearly 3 months. They are sending a shipping
label and will fix it, and expedite the repair. In their defense, the woman I dealt
with when I called was calm, understanding, pleasant, and willing to do what was
necessary to resolve the problem.
But there shouldn't be these problems.
Thank you for your attention,
Charles

I hope this kind of complaint is becoming tiresome to you, but the SGSC in
